The Battle of the Two Powers” Intel vs. AMD Integrated
Intel vs. AMD Integrated Graphics Card Performance
Graphics Card Performance Comparison
High-performance gaming is usually the realm of desktop PCs. However, there are many laptops these days that offer as much gaming performance as desktop PCs. What's more, modern integrated graphics cards are very powerful enough to run more games, even some of the latest Triple-A games. Intel and AMD have significantly improved their integrated graphics cards in terms of performance and efficiency, and in high-end laptops, users can play games without a dedicated graphics card.
So, which integrated graphics card is better, Intel or AMD? PCWorld directly compared the gaming performance of the latest integrated graphics card, the Intel Core 12th Gen Iris Xe, and AMD's new Ryzen 6000 RDNA 2. We tested the MSI GE76 Radar and Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 with a Core i9-12900HK, Ryzen 9 6900HS, and their respective dedicated graphics cards were disabled. This is to focus on the performance of the integrated graphics card.
Intel vs. AMD Integrated Graphics Card Performance
Both large notebooks are better in terms of cooling compared to regular slim and lightweight products. However, this test result can be said to be a good indicator of the performance of the integrated graphics solution of Intel and AMD above all else.
To summarize the video content, the power of AMD's RDNA2 integrated graphics platform is enormous. Thirteen out of 15 benchmark tests outperformed Intel Xe by 20-40%. Also, just a year ago, both the RDNA2 and Xe platforms significantly outperformed laptops with GTX 1650 in a few tests, which shows just how powerful integrated graphics cards have become.
These results have been proven to be true even in high-end PC games such as Horizon Zero Dawn, Red Dead Redemption 2, and Cyberpunk 2077. Open World games are fully implemented with more powerful graphics cards. RDR2 runs the game at 68 frames per second with 1080p resolution and lower graphics settings on AMD hardware. Intel Xe recorded 31 frames per second. This is the performance of a true game console.
There are two major graphics card options. First, if you're on a tight budget or want a thin and light laptop that can run even the latest games without problems, the Ryzen 6000 series chips are the way to go. But Intel's chips are no less than AMD's, with 12th-generation processors and integrated graphics cards that deliver significantly better gaming performance than they did a few years ago. Perhaps right now is the perfect time for PC gamers.
