I'm sure you're going to be on the road a lot today, so what better way to spice up your day than with a bag? There are lots of cool travel bags out there that not only make great accessories but also come in tons of different styles and sizes. The key is finding what's right for you! This article will walk you through my usual choices, plus some useful tips about travel bags.
My typical travel bags usually look like this:
The Body Bag
As someone who has always been into body bags, this one was always the obvious choice for me. You don’t need any more. Just one pack it up, put on a cute coat, wear it around town, and leave it at home. If you’re into small and easy to carry packs, then consider traveling bag charms! I have found these really unique and fun. It’s almost as if they were made for luggage or purses! My favorite ones are from Uniqlo’s collection. They can fit perfectly anywhere so they are perfect for trips.
This time I choose a larger size because I want to avoid anything bulky. I typically fill them up with whatever’s inside (so my wallet or phone is safe). Then I carry it everywhere. Most of the time this works just fine, but sometimes it gets tiring.
Travel Towel
If you plan on hiking, biking, or running a marathon, this seems like it should be included. Especially if you work out or run regularly. If you have enough clothes, you could easily take all the weight off when you step on the pavement! But I definitely wouldn't advise putting on pants! The nice thing about carrying your own suitcase is that you never even know if it gets lost!
I typically use two large towels in tow. One large for layering up socks, shoes, and stuff, another extra blanket-like to help keep me warm. A third one for folding into the other two and taking out for drying once in a while. Some people try out smaller rags. Because you can get them closer in size. Sometimes the first bag won’t go anywhere else quickly. So, if you aren’t using it, why are you trying to buy a new backpack anyway? It looks nicer with socks. However, I find an extra blanket handy. Not only do I have something to fold over and hide under, I also find myself wanting to stretch them out over my shoulders. I also typically pack snacks and water bottles, and these things get left behind at least a couple times. Don’t worry about getting them wet though, and you can always take them back for a rainy day!
Travel Shower Clothes
You don’t need me to tell you, but I love using travel shower clothes! These days, you see travelers use shampoo bottles for their showers to wash out their hair! I feel like we should all add our showers to our itineraries, especially in winter. Plus, they are so much easier to clean than a regular bathroom. It can be scary to take, too - you might never know it’s gone forever. However, these travel shower clothes are super convenient. I usually have at least half a dozen ready to go. When you get back to the hotel or airport you just throw them on your person and take your time. No washing, no changing. Easy peasy! The best part is that you can pack them all in a single travel bag so they can be easy to bring with you on the plane or train.
TOTE BOARD
This one is simple yet elegant. I have gotten to where I am able to use my entire suitcase (or mini) in a few minutes. In my case, I am not a fan of bringing everything home all at once, so this will help with making it easier to travel around without needing to buy new items. It’s good stuff. While you are at it, did you know that most airlines have carry-on bags?! This allows many families to be together, and even allows kids to have an extra suitcase or purse for school.
Travel Pillowcase Pack
A nice travel pillowcase is probably the last item on this list. Many people travel around all the time, and that takes a toll on their bodies. This one has everything you need when traveling - like a light, thin, comfortable pillowcase. I personally find the size 4 comfortably fits in my pocket, plus a small blanket and blanket to wrap myself up in. That isn’t all. Even with these amazing sleeping aids, your hands probably get sore after a long day of traveling. Luckily, the travel pillowcase packing system makes this easy. It’s super comfy and soft which means it will wake you effortlessly. On top of the softness though, it comes with additional pockets and a shoulder bag. It also has pockets under your seat for extra money. Which isn’t so great, being a budget traveler!
Travel Laptop & Computer Case
This is exactly what I am looking for, which shouldn’t surprise anyone. Having something separate from the daily traveling bag that doubles as a laptop just makes so much sense to me! We have all got work, school, social networking, and/or home responsibilities that make this necessary. Why not make life easier by separating yourself from the stresses of busy travel that leaves you feeling exhausted and burnt out? For those of us who work from home or want to be able to work on something else outside of work, we often end up having multiple tasks at hand that are hard to complete with transportation delays. What better solution to these issues? Staying organized when you return on the same day, or having a separate bag for each task you have left that you haven’t completed. This type of situation happens to the best of us!
Travel Backpack
I know this choice may sound a little strange. For those who want a suitcase that’s specifically designed to be a backpack, I personally think it’s awesome. You can still do all the normal activities of driving, getting food and other essentials, but now you have an additional convenience. Also, if you take a minute to research the various brands to find out how much you would spend on average, you know that this option will still cost you less. And with such an amazing selection, there is no reason to get a brand new suitcase every six months.
Travel Backpack + Front Pocket
Traveling backpacks have become popular recently, and there are tons of interesting combinations that can make it work for everyone. Personally, I like to travel with 2 pieces. A large front pocket and a smaller front pocket to hold stuff. To me, it feels like I have a bunch of spaces to unbox myself whenever I need to! Plus, this design keeps the pocket clean, allowing for cleaner flow when traveling. The thing is- you can actually wear a pair of backpacks! A large front pocket means that the main pocket is completely empty, allowing you to be able to hold a bottle or a few items without mess. This means that when you go somewhere, there’s a place to put your items that will stay secure in your pocket. Since there’s already an extra space for your wallet, I will need one for my smartphone, credit cards, cell phone bills, or other phones whenever I need to take a quick trip. Lastly, if I need to be able to put clothes away easily enough to do so, I will place clothes I am planning to put away in the bottom pocket and close that second pocket. Allowing for the same amount of clothing to be put away before heading out.
Travel Money Belt
This is a classic item on my travel bag list. There are loads of different ways to store money though, and this is one that works for me! Every once in a while, I will want to grab cash and pay a bill. Instead of paying that, however, you can place the money belt in place of the billfold and easily fold it up for travel. With its slimness, it is very portable. You can put it away with absolutely no hassle.
Travel Mitten
I love the mittens - they are so comfy while traveling. I think this one is the easiest one to wear on account of its simplicity. Whether you’re wearing it during the colder temperatures or hot temperatures, I love mittens I can wear during a hike or on the beach! As a solo traveler, and because I live alone, I need to protect my body against sunburn. Wearing sunscreen in summer and tanning beds in fall and winters can be extremely taxing. I often forget to apply my makeup or sunscreen in the mornings because it is SO hard to find time to head outside and apply my face after a long day of working. Once the weather gets cold and I leave my house, I have to pick up the sunscreen and reapply. As a result, I am prone to breakouts during the fall season. So, with a high quality mask and sunscreen, I am able to survive.
Travel Water Bottle
One of my biggest pet peeves when planning a vacation is when the bartender asks for my ID or wallet because they want to tip me a drink or give me money. Now, I understand that it’s just common practice. Of course, I need my card in order to enter some places. But it certainly isn’t worth stealing someone’s hard earned money just to get a cup of coffee or soda to warm my beverage and tea. Although, I am pretty sure if my wallet was stolen - I would get arrested for theft!
Travel Puff Blanket
This item is so cute, and I love it! I used to travel so frequently that I made
