Max
a speed test comparison between the
brand new samsung galaxy s22 ultra
versus the iphone 13 pro max the best of
samsung takes on the best of apple if
you're new here be sure to subscribe and
let's get right into it now as always
we're going to kick things off by
booting up both phones at the same time
here we go
this is something that we do
every time we kick off a speed test and
uh the s9 ultra obviously is running
android 12 iphone 13 pro max on the ios
15.4 i believe
so
let's see iphone faster already on
and the s2 ultra is
is done as well alrighty both phones are
in position and before i begin this test
you guys might be wondering which
version of the s20 ultra i have so this
is the snapdragon 8gen1 model and the
absolute base model that you're gonna
get so that means we have eight gigs of
ram on this model so it's gonna come
down a lot on samsung's optimization to
see how the ram management will be
because we get only like three gigabyte
of ram as free memory for the apps again
if you go for the higher up s3 ultra
models you can get up to 12 gigs of ram
but we'll see how the absolute base
model behaves in a speed test battle
against the iphone 13 pro max i would be
legit shocked if the s32 ultra manages
to keep all the apps in the memory that
we're gonna open in this test but let's
see let's see we're gonna warm these bad
boys up by opening up some basic stuff
first just to test out the animations
and everything so starting with the
phone dollar application you can see
that is a pretty pretty neck and neck
let's exit the app at the same time look
at the smoothness on both phones uh very
surprising uh to see this on android as
well of course thanks to 120hz refresh
rate and further optimization uh they're
literally on point just like ios next up
we've got settings
looking pretty similar once again
jumping on some third-party action this
is where the real fun begins we're going
to kick things off with spotify
and that is slightly quicker on the
iphone 13 pro max if i'm not wrong
if we scroll around you can see it looks
very smooth next up we've got
youtube and that's faster on the s22
ultra again very neck and neck
performance if we scroll around
looks very smooth checking out our
favorite subway surfers once again
snapper again agent one versus
the apple a15 let's see
which one loads up quicker you can see
the iphone 13 pro max faster there
we're just gonna leave this here
launch another game which is altos
adventure
and see which one comes on top so okay
galaxy s22 ultra
is definitely quicker there iphone
yeah iphone just managed to load that
first sequence up so that was really
quick
on the s
22 ultra
we're gonna let the iphone finish
and also just quickly start
the game as well
obviously that's not a really good
advantage for the stream ultra because
of 8 gigs of ram but we want to test it
out there's absolute limits and once
again you can see the in-app performance
looks incredible
on
both phones so one to one when it comes
to the game launching times on both
phones and uh let's move on to some more
fun stuff tick tock
and
that is definitely quicker on the s22
ultra again
a very very close performance check out
the actual in-app scrolling you can see
both phones are loading the videos
with no issue at all instagram
that is slightly quicker on the iphone
13 pro max uh if we check out the
scrolling speed first of all looking
really smooth on both phones and no
issues let's check out my profile
pretty quick on both devices let's check
out the insta camera speed on both
phones so boom
i think that was a bit quicker on the
s22 ultra
now
it's about the same yeah i think it's
about the same on both phones once again
very very close performance checking out
pretty quick on both phones again
scrolling and everything very smooth 120
hertz performance
let's check out another application
which is going to be
reddit on both devices
boom
and that is faster on the iphone 13 pro
max let's check out the scrolling speed
looking pretty good on both devices now
let's launch some heavy games we have
asphalt 9 on both phones uh this is one
of the most popular free games we have
on android and ios so obviously we got
to test it out every single time uh you
can see samsung did the play game sign
up uh let's see if that actually affects
the speed or not
okay so s42 ultra still
a little bit faster there compared to
the iphone
and uh both phones are in the position
let's check out the in-game loading
times on both phones
and see if the s3 ultra can
pull ahead or not on iphone
is
quicker there
again not a whole lot of difference but
you definitely have that
quick edge in terms of the in-app
loading time astro dual drive was
quicker with the app launch iphone is
quicker with the game loading i believe
we can take this as a draw
but the actual
uh performance looks pretty quick on
both phones again running on high
performance mode i believe the s3 ultra
is running this game at 30 fps because
the app has not been updated for this
phone uh soon we'll definitely see that
update coming up now moving on to my
favorite pubg mobile on both phones this
is our final big game test
and uh you can see the iphone 13 pro max
is pulling through pretty quick
with the loading times s2 ultra is also
catching up okay so the iphone is done
astronomy ultra is checking the updates
and it's also done as well so definitely
quicker on the iphone now let's check
out the actual in-game performance on
both phones so this is looking
good and this is
looking pretty good as well very smooth
on both phones as always i mean this has
been the case with previous devices so
not really surprised here things can get
improved even further if they unlock
like the
ultra hd option on the the s202 ultra
which i believe they will do it after a
few updates but right now you can play
this game on high settings with high
frame rate which is also the default
option with the iphone 13 pro max once
again like i said looking good good
texture and everything it's definitely
not 60 fps probably somewhere around
35 to 45 again looking smooth
no issues whatsoever let's keep her
running and check things out on the
galaxy s 22 ultra the display looks
incredible especially with the punch
hole
obviously looks more cleaner than
notch and when it comes to the actual in
frame rate
look i think it's also around the same
30 40 fps just overall a great
experience with this pubg application on
both phones now next up we have the
camera app on both phones here we go
and that is quicker on the iphone
13 pro max time to see the rendering
performance
on both devices we've created the same
project you can see both phones are
handling the timeline without any issue
let's go ahead and render this out at
the same time on both phones
look at the speed on the iphone as
always it has been the best when it
comes to the rendering times
uh because of its incredibly powerful
gpu but things are looking improved on
the s3 ultra not that far behind
compared to previous generation again
this is
uh the cap cut application which i've
recently been using for you know editing
my videos so
that was the 1080p 4k to 1080p rendering
performance iphone better
s3 ultra has definitely improved
compared to previous generation now time
for a quick browsing war on both phones
uh we're launching gsm arena on both
devices i think the iphone is quicker
here let's check out the scrolling speed
looking pretty good let's check out
this is definitely faster on
the galaxy s 22 ultra so one one
with the browsing application once again
scrolling looks
very very smooth time to jump on to the
ram management and see if there's any
application
that has been stored well with this
eight gigs of ram again i don't have any
hopes but starting with the first app
that we opened phone dollar as you can
see that probably did refresh on the s22
ultra moving on to settings
spotify that also got refresh so so far
no application has been stored
in the memory
youtube
that is also refreshed subway surfers
altos adventure tick tock
okay so that is the first app that is
still in the memory okay not all
applications are refreshed instagram
still there google
that is also still there reddit some
recent apps are still in the memory
which is nice let's see asphalt 9.
iphone has still kept it there but s3
ultra completely refreshed now actually
iphone also refreshed it so
we have a complete refresh on both
phones and s3 ultra is
also done so none of the phones kept
this app in the memory next up we have
pubg mobile this is something that we
just launched
and
looking at it i feel like the iphone is
keeping it in the memory but the s9
ultra completely refreshed it we're back
to the cap cut that's still there and
finally we are back to the browser
application uh definitely some refreshes
here and there on this model of course
only 80s of ram but it did keep some
other apps in the memory so not
everything was refreshed again that is
80s of ram on the s22 ultra base model
for most people i don't think there will
be any problems uh you know playing
music and doing other things at the same
time uh if you're using like four to
five apps
simultaneously i think it can still
handle but in a speed test where we're
launching 10 15 apps rendering stuff
while other things are open in the
background then it's gonna be pretty
hard on this eight case of ram but the
iphone obviously has six of the ram but
ios with this incredible optimization it
was able to keep everything in the
memory except asphalt 9. so overall both
phones are incredibly fast although the
iphone is much much faster when it comes
to the benchmarks in terms of real life
these phones are very very close again i
wish i had the 12 gigs of ram variant of
the galaxy s2 ultra but yeah it is what
it is again this is the model that most
people will go for and you can see that
it's not that bad with the ram
